Covid-19 - what is required to embark on MSC Cruises in South Africa (Durban or Cape Town)

Here is the information that MSC Cruises requires in order to cruise from South Africa (Covid-19 related only)

The COVID-19 requirements are permanently changing, however, currently for the 2023/2024 season, the new requirement is as per below. - this is not valid for any other MSC departure than South Africa. 

Guests are not required to be vaccinated to travel on the South African cruises for the 2023/2024 season. 

 

IF YOU ARE VACCINATED:

All guests that are fully vaccinated do not need to provide any COVID-19 test at embarkation. (However, MSC recommend it)
You will be considered fully vaccinated after receiving a dose of an accepted single-dose or your second dose of an accepted 2-dose series.

 

IF YOU ARE NOT VACCINATED:
Unvaccinated guests aged 5 years and over will have to provide a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR laboratory result certificate taken no more than 48 hours (2 days) before departure at the guests' own cost. For all cruises to Mozambique. No test for Namibia. 


TRAVEL INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS:

The Travel Insurance required for your cruise is already included in your current booking. As it is part of your Cruise Ticket, you don't need to show any particular papers at the port.

MASK ONBOARD:

Face masks are not required onboard.

If you become symptomatic during your cruise, you will be required to take an RT-PCR test onboard (covered by MSC Cruises).
