Princess Cruises to offer series of short UK Coastal cruises the upcoming summer

Due to very uncertain situation in the UK, Princess Cruises has announced yesterday that they will be launching a series of short UK cruises departing in late summer.

These short cruises will be reserved for UK guest only (similar to what MSC cruises did with Schengen nationals on MSC Grandiosa).

The itineraries will include short breaks and week-long holidays departing from Southampton on both Regal Princess and Sky Princess.

Princess Cruises will start the sale of this new itinerary, later this month, the company will also inform on the exact itineraries, dates and prices in a further update.

The Guernsey Ban announced yesterday, will surely have an impact on the choice of these itineraries.

The current planned UK season on the Island Princess, Regal Princess and Sky Princess will be cancelled until the 25 September 2021.

Tony Roberts, vice president Princess Cruises UK & Europe, said: “Recent announcements from the UK Government on the roadmap to the end of lockdown has given us all optimism that we will be able to have a summer break.
When restrictions are lifted, it is clear that holidays in the UK will be the first to restart before the gradual return of international travel. We are eager to welcome our guests back onboard as soon as it is safe to do so. By offering a series of short UK breaks, we can provide guests with a relaxed holiday at sea so they can enjoy a much-needed getaway.” he continues “In order to offer these new cruises, we have unfortunately had to cancel our current ex-UK programme through late September. We share in the disappointment over these cancelled cruises and we appreciate the continued patience from our loyal guests and travel agents.”

This announcement comes on the back of P&O Cruises modifying its summer program and MSC Cruises looking into starting (awaiting confirmation) with MSC Magnifica on 14 May 2021.
